Europe at Last

We’re in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. All is quiet and well here. It’s a small, relaxing town. Our train ride here was about as delightful as an overnight train ride can be - we could actually sleep, aside from the border crossings. More later.

A two hour flight undid the entire two months of our eastward progress and brought us, happily, back to Istanbul. The eastern part of Turkey is incredible but it should be visited on its own, or first, not after a leisurely four weeks in the completely modern and clean western Turkey.
